Good times

know you’re
doing things right

Few of us went to school for Software Product Management. It wasn't even a widely understood field when we were starting our careers. It's still misunderstood! We want to excel at our jobs and build products that people love to use, but wondering if "am I doing this right?" can be confusing and demoralizing.

Don't waste your time and resources. You've worked too hard not to become the best Product Manager you can be.

Come to INDUSTRY: The Product Conference in Dublin, Ireland or the New York Product Conference in the Spring, or Cleveland, Ohio in the Fall, and learn the latest methods, tools, and frameworks used to build, launch and scale world-class software products.

Who's behind INDUSTRY? Read our story.

Gain more influence

Get internal stakeholders to think like product people and buy in to what the customer truly needs. As a result, you'll get more time from your engineers, budget for new tools and find more time to focus on higher-level strategy

Know that you are spending time and money on the right things

Be more confident about testing your ideas, prioritizing your features, understanding data, building out your roadmap, and ultimately, managing your products and team better.

Level-up your skills and enhance your career

Get exposed to new ways of thinking about creating products, replete with actionable steps that you can immediately bring back to the office.

Find your tribe

There are few places to connect in person with product people like you from around the world. At INDUSTRY, you have a unique opportunity to meet hundreds for 2-3 days and find ways to learn from each other and collaborate.

Be on the inside

You've read the best product books. Listened to the best product podcasts. But have you ever wanted to have a coffee or lunch with the people behind those and ask them, "Yeah, but what about my situation?" At INDUSTRY, you can.

What to
expect

Packed Agenda

The main stage features product leaders presenting on a range of topics that will challenge and inspire Product Managers who build, launch, and scale world-class products.

Time Out

INDUSTRY is a multi-day conference, allowing you to really step out of execution mode. Conference Plus pass holders start with an intensive 4-hour Workshop on Monday, March 9th, before joining Main Conference pass holders on Tuesday for 2 days of valuable talks, interactive interviews, and good times with fellow attendees.

Talk Shop

Head to the Talk Shop stage after each session to connect with speakers in an intimate setting. There, speakers are interviewed and attendees have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with others the merits and applications of what was presented.

Networking Events

Come to learn from the speakers as they share their knowledge on stage… but stay for the relationships you’ll build with other attendees! At INDUSTRY, you’ll have plenty of chances to meet fellow product people — including at the pre-conference kickoff reception and the official mid-conference party after Day 1’s talks.

Group Discussions

The main stage features product leaders presenting on a range of topics that will challenge and inspire Product Managers who build, launch, and scale world-class products.

Attendee Dinners

You can learn so much from our speakers as they present on-stage — but you’re likely to learn just as much from fellow attendees, who are faced with many of the same challenges as you. Aside from chatting about these informally, you can take part in a number of small-group discussions focused on a wide variety of topics relevant to Product Managers.

Powerful product positioning – how to make your market work for you
April Dunford

CEO at Ambient Strategy

Positioning can make or break a new product, yet it rarely gets the attention it deserves. In this talk, I’m going to outline a product positioning process that will shine a spotlight on your product’s best features. I will also give re-positioning examples and show the impact on the overall business that resulted from that shift in context.

Becoming a product leader
Louise Bernstein

Group product manager at Hubspot

What does your team need from a product leader? Product Managers tend to be self-starters, confident, and don’t like to be micromanaged. Whether a mentor or manager to others, this talk will cover how to lead a team so it becomes greater than the sum of its parts, and they grow their individual impact at the same time.

How to lead in product management
Roman Pichler

Product Management Expert at Pichler Consulting Ltd

Leading stakeholders and development teams is notoriously challenging for us product people: We need the individuals’ buy-in and support, but we lack the power to tell them what to do. This talk shares proven leadership practices that will help you align and guide people, thereby maximising the chances of reaching product success.

A conversation about struggle
Shellye Archambeau

Strategic Advisor & Board Member at Nordstrom & Verizon

Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in the minutae of tasks we must complete as product people. But sometimes, a major struggle or challenge hits — and it tears our world apart. In this fireside chat, we’ll discuss how to address challenges and struggles in our work with Shellye Archambeau, a technology executive who led one of the most incredible Silicon Valley turnarounds you may have never heard of.

Game design & today’s modern products
John Romero

Game Development Icon

In this fireside chat, we’ll learn from legendary video game designer why video game design isn’t just for video games. Video game design now touches products of all kinds — including modern business applications.

Customer obsession: satisfying the unsatisfiable via consumer science
Gibson Biddle

Former VP of Product at Netflix

Find out how to move beyond customer focus to “customer obsession” via consumer science to discover what delights customers in hard-to-copy, margin-enhancing ways. Learn how to get insight from four sources of consumer insight, then evaluate these ideas through various research techniques. Gib will illustrate these tactics using examples from Netflix, then, put the techniques into practice with a highly interactive, modern-day Netflix case.

Data is a hammer, science is carpentry: evolving from data-driven to science-driven product development
Donal McMahon

Group manager for data platforms at Indeed

Building great technology products is difficult — scaling them presents even more challenges. The sheer amount of data now available can help with decision making for your products, and many companies are striving to be more data-driven. Data is only the start of the solution. Without a consistent process for consuming this data and deriving meaningful insights, you can end up with lower quality decisions. Teams can become distracted by the noise of large quantities of data and miss vital information. Thankfully, you can rely on scientific principles to refine and scope your use of data; so that you’re asking the right questions at the right time in search of meaningful answers that will help you improve your products. In this talk, I will introduce you to key data science concepts and illustrate how to use them in making robust decisions at scale. This talk leverages established principles from statistics, information theory, economics, and machine learning, to supply your team with a shared vernacular and evaluation framework. There will be math, but also practical examples of how we do it well (and occasionally badly) at Indeed.

Social hour

5:00PM @ RDS

After a long day of inspiration, enjoy plentiful food and drinks with your fellow attendees.

OFFICIAL PARTY (Sponsored by Pendo)

8:00PM @ TBA

Attendees will come back together for the official INDUSTRY party in downtown Dublin. Revelers will get a chance to connect with other product people from around the world and enjoy a few pints on our good friends at Pendo.

The dirty secrets behind product teams
Richard Banfield

VP of design transformation at Invision

As product people, we imagine that the challenges we face are unique to this tech era we’re experiencing. In fact, almost all our challenges are not technological, but rather about people. In this talk, we’ll delve into the far reaches of the organizational nooks and crannies to find out what high-performing teams are getting right. We’ll talk about the universal truths that drive results and happiness and call out the behavior that leads to mistrust and confusion.

Habits, practices & strategy for building viral products
Oji Udezue

VP of product at Calendly

A discussion on the habits, practices and strategy for building products that are extremely viral and able to catch the attention of your target market, so you can grow your business faster.

Why XAAS businesses struggle to achieve high growth & profit
Laura Fay

VP research & advisory, XAAS product management at Tsia

You’ve launched your subscription product, customers are adopting nicely, and revenue growth is healthy. But operational scale is elusive. Profitably monetizing the value proposition is the very reason businesses exist, so why are so many subscription businesses struggling to achieve both high growth AND profit? This session reveals TSIA’s research on the XaaS business model that you’ll want to design for to ensure longer term viability.

WHEN SHIPPING FAST AIN'T ENOUGH
ANYMORE
BRIAN DONOHUE

Director, Product Management at Intercom

Everyone agrees teams should evolve to become outcome-focused. But this is much easier said than done. I'll share how we're thinking about balancing outcomes with a more standard problem-focused lens.

How to make product & tech strategy compelling for your organisation
Tanya Cordrey

Former chief digital officer of Guardian Media

Product and Engineering teams often try and engage their organisations with well-recognised frameworks and approaches. But different firms often need different forms of engagement. And this needs to start with your strategy. This talk will outline why product strategy is important and how to recognise the best approaches to engage many types of organisations.

Group working session: strategies for creating high Performing Teams

High-performing design teams are structured around the customer value they deliver. In this Working Session, we’ll explore how these exceptional teams align themselves with vision, values, and practices to ensure they can create the ideal cross-functional working environments and delivery paths.

“Unconference”- style small group discussions

Attendees who wish to dive deeper on specific topics can do so here, where small groups form and dig in on various topics. Attendees can even offer to recommend and lead sessions — as well as vote, in advance, on the topics they wish to see discussed. Sessions take place both before and after lunch.
